THE APPETITE of Slovaks for gambling has been increasing, the daily Národná obroda wrote. Last year, they spent Sk26.5 billion (€646.12 million) on gambling, which is Sk2 billion (€48.76 million) more than in 2002.
According to experts, Slovak gamblers hope to improve their social situations by winning.
In 2003, Sk20 billion (€487.64 million) in winnings were paid to gamblers. Slot machines remain the most popular gambling devices.
