As many as 35 percent of the respondents in a recent poll by the Polispolling agency would have chosen the party of Robert Fico if the elections took place in mid-July.
The results of the poll further show that there would be seven parties represented in parliament if the parliamentary elections took place in mid-July. Sieť would score best among the opposition parties, with 12.1 percent of the respondents saying they would vote for the party.
The coalition of NOVA and the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) would have received 8.9 percent of the vote, while the nationalist Slovak National Party (SNS) would follow with 8.3 percent.
Most-Híd would end with 8.1 percent of the vote, the Christian Democrats (KDH) with 7.9 percent, and the Party of Hungarian Community (SMK), which is currently not represented in the parliament, would make it back with 5.1 percent of the votes.
Other parties, including Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) with 4.5 percent, the Communists (KSS) with 1.9 percent, the ultranationalist People’s Party Our Slovakia (LS NS) with 1.9 percent and the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKU) with 1.8 percent would not make it through the threshold.
While 60 percent of the respondents in the poll said they would participate in the elections, 22 percent said they would not vote, while 18 percent were hesitant.
Polis carried out the poll on 1,463 respondents between July 12 and 18.
