MEMBERS of the Young Social Democrats (MSD), the youth wing of the opposition Smer party, have launched a campaign against Prime Minister Iveta Radičová. MSD is using a billboard ad to target Radičová’s silence over the controversial rental of a building for tax offices in Košice, the TASR newswire reported.
The billboard, which is displayed on a car, depicts Radičová sweeping dirt under a carpet bearing the logo of her party, the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ). It resembles a caricature by Martin ‘Shooty’ Šútovec published in the Sme daily in May, when the controversy over the rental deal first began. MSD leader Andrej Kolesík denied that he had copied Shooty’s cartoon, saying he only “reads” the newspaper, Sme reported.
Meanwhile, Radičová’s spokesperson Rado Baťo announced that she would not comment on the current deal until Finance Minister Ivan Mikloš returned from vacation.
