This way of paying tolls will be available at certain transit border crossings until March 31, 2010, although toll collection via so-called on board units (OBU) installed in vehicles will continue simultaneously.

The ticketing system is designed solely for transiting hauliers, who can key in basic information about their vehicles at a transit border crossing when entering Slovakia and specify the chosen transit section - of which there are 18 in the country. The toll will be calculated from the entered data and has to be paid in advance. This new supplementary method of toll payment was agreed on during talks between Transport Minister Ľubomír Vážny and transporters’ association ČESMAD on Friday. It came as a response to kilometres-long queues which have formed at border crossings since the introduction of the new electronic road-toll system for trucks (which came into force on January 1, 2010).
