"Chambers with obligatory membership fees are, without doubt, unjustified barriers to starting a business," Economy Minister Róbert Nemcsics said.

The ministry claims that there are 19 professional organizations in Slovakia while the daily SME counted 22 chambers with obligatory membership fees. The chambers regulate the entry into the professions and oversee the performance of professionals. Currently, a pharmacist cannot open a pharmacy nor a lawyer start practicing without the permission of the chamber.
