A STUDY conducted by the advisory firm Hay Group, which was recently published in German economic weekly Wirtschaftswoche, showed the Slovak prime minister as the lowest earner from a selected group of 13 European prime ministers.
British Prime Minister Tony Blair leads the chart with €268,500 followed by German Chancellor Angela Merkel who earns €7,000 less per year, Hospodárske noviny reported. Hay Group notes, however, that although the British prime minister leads the pack of the best paid European prime ministers, he lags behind the wages of British top managers, earning just around five to 10 percent of the latter's annual income.
Slovak Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda was last with €39,100 per year. The second to last was Polish Prime Minister Kazimierz Marcinkiewicz with annual wage of €53,400.
Czech Prime Minister Jiří Paroubek, who was not included in the Hay Group study, earns around €65,000 according to existing information.
