A public opinion poll conducted by the MVK agency suggests that while sixty percent of Slovaks would oppose installations for the US missile plan in Slovakia, only 43 percent oppose its installation in the Czech Republic. The majority of Slovak politicians would not protest it either.
Only the Prime Minister Fico's own party, Smer-SD, expressed a willingness to oppose the US plans. Its coalition partners, the SNS and ĽS-HZDS, have not voiced any opposition and the Slovak Foreign Ministry considers a nuclear-armed Iran to be a genuine security threat. SITA
