THE MINISTRY of Education in Taiwan is offering scholarships to four Slovak students who intend to enrol in the 2008-2009 academic year. Currently there are nine Slovak students studying in Taiwan under the "Taiwan Scholarship Programme".
While providing study opportunities in a wide range of disciplines at Taiwan's universities and colleges, this programme also seeks to: promote knowledge, understanding and friendship between Taiwan and countries around the world; explore opportunities to increase academic and educational links with international institutions of higher learning; and develop outstanding professionals and experts to assist Taiwan's business, industry and international cooperation sectors. The award period for each study programme varies as follows:
Undergraduate programme: maximum 4 years;
Master's programme: maximum 2 years;
Doctoral programme: maximum 3 years.
For any combination of these study programmes, the length of the total award for each recipient is a maximum of five years.
The whole study programme is preceded by a one-year-long course of Chinese language tuition. In principle, selection priority will be given to those who intend to undertake a degree programme and have successfully secured admission to a university/college.
Applications should be submitted to the Taipei Representative Office in Bratislava, Mostová 2, 811 02 Bratislava.
The deadline for applications is March 13, 2008.
