INTERIOR Minister Robert Kaliňák has set up a special team to investigate the murder of university student Daniel Tupý, believed to have been killed by skinheads two years ago.
The team of eight members has already started working, the Aktualne.sk news website wrote on October 23.
Daniel Tupý, a Comenius University student from Žilina, was stabbed to death on the right bank of the Danube on November 4, 2005 in Bratislava, allegedly by a group of skinheads. Then-interior minister Vladimír Palko pledged that the offenders would be caught soon, but police have still not solved the murder.
The team is a mix of members of Interior Ministry special units. The Interior Ministry has not commented on the team in order not to disrupt investigation. However, two independent sources confirmed this information to Aktualne.sk.
The news site wrote that the team has already found three eyewitnesses thanks to electronic surveillance done in connection with another criminal case. However, police have not yet detained any suspects.
If found and convicted, Tupý's killer could be sentenced to a jail term of up to 15 years.
