While about 20,000 students graduated from the former, 6,900 graduated from the latter in the half-centenary of their existence.

The Secondary Grammar School of Laco Novomeský has a long tradition and a good reputation among the public. Currently, it offers a 4-year and an 8-year study course, while the curricula include, apart from traditional subjects, also swimming, social and health education, and information technologies taught via modern methods.

On October 10, the anniversary was celebrated in a festive meeting in the famous “assembly hall” and it included also a reception in the big hall on the ground floor. Among several hundred invited guests, there were former and current professors, but also famous graduates: in the past 50 years, their ranks have grown impressively, including: the former prime minister, the current mayor of Bratislava, several top politicians, and also show-business celebrities, world-class athletes, scientists, doctors, businesspeople, as well as numerous other professions.
