“I feel great,” Sagan said, as quoted by the SITA newswire. “I am happy that I brought green jersey to the finish line in Paris.”

In the overall classification Sagan finished 61st. The winner of the Tour and the holder of the yellow jersey is Italian Vincenzo Nibali of the Astana team. Peter Velits, another Slovak cyclist who took part in the Tour, finished 27th.

Sagan, who competes for the Cannondale team, has fulfilled his main aim, which was the winning subsidiary competition in points. He has however failed to win any one leg of the Tour. He was among the best nine cyclists in 11 of 21 stages and four times he finished in second place.

“I am glad that I finished the Tour without any serious injury,” Sagan told SITA. “I do not have reason to be disappointed.”

However, the future of the young cyclist is unclear since Sagan’s contract with Cannondale team ends on August 1 and he has not revealed which team he will race for next.

“Nothing is certain so far; we will see what will be decided in the end of season,” Sagan said.
