The communication encrypted via the app suggests that Bödör was in contact with both Robert Fico and Robert Kaliňák.

Marian Kočner and Nitra-based businessman Norbert Bödör called Smer chair and ex-PM Robert Fico “boss” in their communication sent via the Threema app. They evaluated his steps and wanted to persuade him to choose a replacement for General Prosecutor Jaromír Čižnár before the current government’s tenure ends.

This stems from the texts published by the Denník N daily.

“It’s the most important to have a GP,” Kočner wrote on December 3, 2017. “You have to persuade the boss to do it! Does the boss know that the new one should be elected before this government ends? I believe we agree on this.”

The Smer party has failed to comment on the communication yet, the Sme daily wrote.

Kočner’s communication encrypted via the Threema app from September 2017 through May 2018 is part of the police investigation of the murders of investigative journalist Ján Kuciak and Martina Kušnírová, where the controversial businessman stands accused of ordering Kuciak’s murder. The police acquired it from Kočner’s mobile with the help of Europol.

The texts have been gradually published, with the consent of the bereaved families, Sme wrote.

Fico criticised for his steps

The communication between Kočner and Bödör, who is the son of Miroslav Bödör, the owner of the security service company Bonul, which has earned money on state orders during the Smer-led governments, suggests that the latter was in contact with both Fico and ex-interior minister Robert Kaliňák. He was also waiting for the meeting with Denisa Saková, who became the interior minister after Kaliňák, Denník N wrote.
