TRANSPARENCY International Slovakia (TIS), an anti-corruption watchdog organisation, has criticised Slovak politicians for their failure to deal with corruption.
At a press conference on February 3, TIS said that politicians may talk about fighting corruption, but they must actually take concrete steps to eliminate it, including passing stricter laws against themselves.
Despite promises before the 2002 national elections, the system of financing political parties has not changed. Legislators also repeatedly rejected conflict of interest draft laws and several other anti-bribery laws.
