THE OPPOSITION Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) offered the most support to the legislative fight against corruption from among all the parliamentary parties, according to an evaluation conducted by the NGO Transparency International Slovensko (TIS), the TASR newswire reported.
The KDH was followed in the TIS ranking by two other opposition parties, the Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) and the Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK).
The parties of the ruling coalition rounded out the ranking, with the Slovak National Party (SNS) scoring higher than Smer and the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS), TASR wrote.
The ranking was based on the votes of MPs, by party affiliation, for or against pieces of legislation that TIS said influenced the fight against corruption – there were 25 such legislative initiatives according to TIS, of which eight were never passed.
The government office said the report falls entirely under the influence of the election campaign of the opposition parties and pointed to the fact that various representatives of the opposition parties have been connected with TIS.
