The parliamentary party Most-Híd and the non-parliamentary Civic Conservative Party (OKS) will be allies in the June parliamentary elections, the SITA newswire wrote.
Most-Híd chairman Béla Bugár and OKS head Peter Zajac announced the decision at a news conference on February 9. A member of the Conservative Democrats of Slovakia party (KDS), František Mikloško, will definitely not appear on the Most-Híd slate, as Bugár told SITA that Most-Híd and KDS failed to come to an agreement, as their visions differ.
The Most-Híd slate will feature OKS candidates for parliamentary deputies from the twelfth spot and lower. The OKS will have its leaders and people from regional structures on the joint candidate list. Both parties are prepared to discuss the creation of a so-called grand coalition offered by the Slovak Democratic and Christian.
Bugár said that if the parties involved agree on a grand coalition his party will support a four-member coalition that would be formed by the SDKÚ, Freedom and Solidarity (SaS), Most-Híd and OKS. If this coalition fails to become reality, Most-Híd and OKS will enter the elections with a joint slate according to Zajac who added that his party's priority is the broadest possible coalition.
If SaS rejects the grand coalition proposal, it will be up to the SDKÚ to decide whether it is interested in another coalition, explained Bugar. The SaS party is to decide on entry into the SDKÚ-proposed coalition on the evening of February 9. Representatives of SaS are rather reluctant to cooperate with the SDKÚ and observers suggest that there are no strong advocates of this cooperation inside the party, the Sme daily reported. SITA, Sme
