The Health Care Supervision Office (ÚDZS) presented its own analysis of the Slovak health insurance market a month after one was released by the Health Policy Institute (HPI), a non-governmental think-tank.
The ÚDZS did so because it believed the HPI analysis was misleading due to subjective research and only one category for comparing economic indicators. It also found it flawed that the HPI did not measure the health insurers performance on the market over the same period of time.
According to HPI, which rated the companies from “A” to “D”, with “A” being the best, the state-owned insurers VšZP and Spoločná Zdravotná Poisťovňa received a "D"; Union Zdravotná Poisťovňa (UZP) and Poisťovňa Dovera received an "A"; and Apollo and Európska Zdravotná Poisťovňa (EZP) received a "B".
