The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Regional Centre for Europe and the CIS in Bratislava is very vibrant, Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi, a leading representative of the UNDP Bureau for Development Policy, told the TASR newswire in an interview on March 1.
According to Fraser-Moleketi, who is visiting Slovakia, it is an honour that one of the six UNDP regional centres is located in Bratislava. UNDP views the Bratislava Centre as one of its models in terms of the way it provides support to countries in this region.
The Bratislava Regional Centre supports the work of UNDP in countries of Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), providing expert advice, training and grant support to these countries. UNDP focuses on reducing poverty, HIV/AIDS, democratic governance, energy and the environment, and crisis prevention and recovery.
Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi, a South African, assumed her duties as Democratic Governance Practice Director in the UNDP Bureau for Development Policy on January 2, 2009. She previously served in the South African government in various posts for over 14 years. TASR
