The rate of registered unemployment in Slovakia fell to 7.36 percent in August, representing a fall of 0.11 percentage points month-on-month and 0.83 percentage points year-on-year.
The number of job seekers was 192,098, falling by 2,743 month-on-month and 20,807 year-on-year, said Vladimir Hasko from the IT and statistics department of the Centre for Labour, Social Affairs and the Family.
"We expect a stagnation in the registered unemployment rate because we're still expecting an inflow of university graduates," he added.
The unemployment rate calculated from all those registered as seeking work fell to 8.52 percent (222,335 individuals) in August. Almost 110,000 people are long-term unemployed, which represents 49.2 percent of all job seekers. TASR
