Along with Přemysl Sobotka, Speaker of the Czech Senate and host of the event, the guests include Miloslav Vlček, chairman of the Deputies' Chamber of the Czech Parliament; Slovak Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paška; Hungarian National Assembly vice-chairman László Mandur; and Poland's Speaker of Senate Bogdan Borusewicz.

President Ivan Gašparovič signed the Lisbon Treaty on May 12 after it was ratified on April 10. The treaty should be ratified by all member states by the end of 2008 and come into force on January 1, 2009. TASR
