"We hope that the European Parliament will arrive at an agreement as soon as possible, as it's necessary for the whole EU to have the budget passed in the form it was agreed [by European leaders]," said Wammen, who was in Bratislava on an official visit, as quoted by the TASR newswire.

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, along with Lajčák, has said he will hold talks with Slovak MEPs in order to convince them to support the budget. Although European leaders reached an agreement on the final form of the EU budget on February 8, the European Parliament will have the final say and there are some voices in Brussels claiming that the proposal might not be passed.
