White powder delivered to Bratislava City Hall declared safe

White powder that was found in an envelope by staff members at Bratislava City Hall's mail room early on Thursday, October 11, prompting the building to be closed, was not anthrax or any other dangerous substance, spokesman Ľubomír Andrassy later announced, the TASR newswire reported. Andrassy reported that a scientific examination of the white powder was concluded at 13:00, and found no dangerous substances to be present.

The letter wasn't addressed to a specific person, but to the department dealing with road administration. Even though special security precautions at City Hall were lifted after the results were returned, the front office remained closed until Friday morning.
