Jan Wiersma, the European Parliament’s monitor for Slovakia, has warned the Slovak government not to let its internal conflicts bring the country to early elections, and said he was “not at all encouraged” by the recent ultimatum issued by the ethnic Hungarian party.
The party decided at a meeting August 25 to give the government until September 30 to pass an important reform law, and said if the deadline wasn’t met it would leave the coalition.
