RUSSIAN oil giant Yukos has denied allegations that it plans to sell its stake in Slovak oil transport company Transpetrol, according to the SME daily.
An unnamed Yukos official said the company had not carried out any talks on the sale of its Slovak acquisition.
The reaction came in response to a statement by Russian President Vladimir Putin in Bratislava on February 25 that Russian company Tatneft was interested in the Transpetrol stake.
Tatneft is a government controlled company and the sixth biggest oil producer in Russia.
In 2004, with the culmination of Yukos' tax problems, Slovak Economy Minister Pavol Rusko said that Slovakia would try to regain Yukos' stake in Transpetrol.
