Slovak cyclist Peter Sagan signed an agreement with German team Bora. He will earn €6 million a year from his new employer, which will make him the highest paid cyclist in the world, the TASR newswire reported.
Even big cycling stars like British racer Christopher Froome and Italian Vincenzo Nibali make less, as they reportedly receive some €3.5-4 million a year.
“Peter Sagan has already made a deal with Bora, it is a done deal,” head of the Tinkoff team Oleg Tinkov told the media, as quoted by TASR.
At first Sagan was expected to sign with Astana, Trek or Etixx – Quick-Step. As his agent was asking for €6 million, he failed to cut a deal with those teams, TASR wrote.

The Slovak cyclist will become the leader of the team, according to the press reports.
Meanwhile, Tinkov confirmed he is finished with cycling and his Tinkoff team will be dissolved, TASR wrote.
