Slovakia ends its performance at the 2018 IIHF World Championship in Denmark with a victory in the final match. The national ice hockey team defeated its rivals from Belarus 7:4.
Slovakia's Martin Bakoš and Tomáš Jurčo scored two goals each, while Marek Hovorka, Marek Ďaloga and Michal Kryštof scored one goal each. Belarusian goals were scored by Alexander Kitarov, Charles Linglet, Evgeni Kovyrshin and Pavel Vorobey.
Slovaks won 11 points in the preliminary round and placed 5th. Its fate was decided by the earlier victory of Switzerland (which ended 4th and thus advanced to the quarter-finals as the last team of group A) over France.
Based on current IIHF World Rankings, Slovakia is ranked 10th, while Belarus is 11th.
