The Slovak national hockey team won all three points in their fifth match of the 2019 IIHF World Championships against France. The match ended with the result 3:6.
Slovakia's much-needed victory means that, in theory, the national team still has a chance to succeed to the quarterfinal.
Richard Panik scored the first goal of the match. Organisers awarded him the title of the best player of the match for team Slovakia.
Slovakia now has 6 points in the preliminary round - three from today's match against France, and three from their very first match against the US.
The Slovak national team is playing in group A of the preliminary round, with the matches being held in Košice. They will face teams from the US, Finland, Canada, Germany, France, Great Britain, and Denmark.
