Bratislava period picnic

Saturday, June 29 in Janko Kráľ Park; starts at 13:00

A picnic for lovers of living history is returning to Janko Kráľ Park, focused on the period 1900 - 1950. Stylish concerts with music of the given era await. C. and k. orchestra, Traditional & Revival Band and Fats Jazz Band will perform for you.

You will enjoy the day with family, friends and loved ones as if cut out of an old coloured photograph. There will also be craft demonstrations and a dance workshop.

The accompanying programme of the period picnic will be complemented by stands with retro hand-made products, a children's playroom, a photo booth, a barber's salon, an open-air oil painting, period sports, a tour and ride on old motorbikes, a chess room and much more.

In 2024, the world commemorates the 90th anniversary of the birth of the American composer James Tenney, one of the leading figures of experimental work of the 20th century.

EnsembleSpectrum, an important ensemble of contemporary music in Slovakia, decided to celebrate his late 90s with a profile concert, the programme of which will present the Slovak audience with a selection of rare chamber compositions from his work.

Natsumatsuri 2024 - Japan Day

Saturday, June 29 on Hviezdoslavovo námestie (square); starts at 14:00

The Natsumatsuri event will bring Japanese culture to the centre of Bratislava on Saturday afternoon.

On Hviezdoslavovo Square, visitors have the opportunity to see a tea ceremony, specialties of Japanese cuisine, ikebana production and traditional Japanese clothes.

The event also includes an accompanying programme, namely an exhibition of bonsai trees, shogi and go board game, calligraphy, sushi preparation demonstrations and a tasting of Japanese cookies.
