The second highest observation tower in Slovakia, Horné Lazy, which opened to tourists in August 2021, is among the most popular tourist attractions in the Horehronie region, central Slovakia. It offers a panoramic view of the peaks of national parks, Brezno and its surroundings.
The local government and the Regional Organisation of Tourism (OOCR) Horehronie Region, decided to make it even more attractive by building new additional infrastructure, reports the My Bystrica website.

For example, novelties have been added to the Banisko recreational area.
"Banisko is one of the most visited recreational areas of the town. It is sought after not only by tourists, but also local residents. At the same time, this area is the starting point for the Horné Lazy observation tower.," said Tomáš Abel, mayor of Brezno and chair of the tourism organisation.
He specified that a sales stand with refreshments and toilet has opened in the locality, where visitors can also find a historical orchard, educational trails with gazebos, benches, and a game park, in addition to the tower.
The tower is 40 metres high and rises above the town of Brezno, considered the centre of Horehronie region. Its construction began in 2018 and opened to tourists in August 2021. Now, a buffet with toilets has been added to the premises of the tower itself.
An approximately 700-metre educational trail leads to the observation tower, bringing hikers closer to nature and attractions in the Horné Lazy area. There are rest areas with benches, wooden animal sculptures and educational panels.
