Košice botanical garden closed in summer. Was it a good decision?

The management rejects criticism, saying repairs must be done this summer.

The botanical garden in Košice will remain closed this summer. There are several reasons for this decision, said Pavol Mártonfi, who is responsible for the botanical garden.

“The number of visitors in summer is not, paradoxically, the highest,” he said, as quoted by the Korzár daily.

Another reason is the planned reconstruction, which turned the garden into a construction site. The work will cost €530,000 and include the changes and modernisation of the electrical installation.

Moreover, the building will be painted and the ground as well as furniture will be changed. One of the glasshouses will get an overhaul.
