Skiers and hikers at the Zerrenpach resort in central Slovakia have been met with an unexpected sight: a Bratislava trolleybus parked near the top of the Látky ski lift, over 1,000 metres above sea level.
The 27-ton vehicle, still with a valid technical inspection, is now a quirky rest stop for visitors, reports My Novohrad. Resort co-owner Jozef Bulla, who purchased it at auction, has ambitious plans. “After winter, we’ll renovate the interior, add a terrace, and connect it to decorative trolleybus wires that will light up at night,” he said.

Getting the trolleybus to its mountaintop location was no small feat. The transport, which took over six hours, left even experienced drivers stunned. “The driver, who has been hauling trolleybuses for years, was in disbelief. He took photos because no one would believe him,” Bulla recalled.
A municipal tractor failed to move the vehicle, requiring assistance from a local farming cooperative. Despite the challenges, the trolleybus is now a unique attraction, complete with playful ‘bus stops’ such as “Rum Stop” and “Becherovka Stop.”

Currently open on weekends, the trolleybus bistro will operate daily during the spring break. With skiing available year-round, Zerrenpach continues to offer visitors something out of the ordinary.
