After hundreds of years, Fiľakovo castle is undergoing renovation. Some parts of the castle have already been conserved and reconstructed and there is also ongoing archaeological research.
Hungarian graphic artists Zsolt Mihály has published a virtual reconstruction of the castle on Youtube. This confirms that it used to be a sumptuous place.
