Mikulčík resigns as general director of Tax Directorate

Miroslav Mikulčík, the general director of Slovakia’s Tax Directorate will resign, directorate spokesperson Gabriela Dianová announced on Wednesday, April 20, the TASR newswire reported.

Miroslav Mikulčík, the general director of Slovakia’s Tax Directorate will resign, directorate spokesperson Gabriela Dianová announced on Wednesday, April 20, the TASR newswire reported.

Mikulčík stated that he had always acted in the public interest and in full compliance with due legal regulations. “I fully support the reforms and the direction of the current government so I don’t want to become a tool in any power struggles, be they with the opposition or within the coalition. I want to put into conflict neither the finance minister [Ivan Mikloš, Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ)] nor the Prime Minister [Iveta Radičová, also SDKÚ], and thus I have decided to give up my position,” he said in a statement.
