Challenge to remain solid in gas market

Analysts and experts say such changes are natural and reflect the current development of Europe’s energy market.

Slovak Gas and Oil Association

SLOVAK Gas and Oil Association (SPNZ) is an independent association of companies and experts active in the gas and oil sectors. It was established in 1993 through the transformation of the Czechoslovak Gas and Oil Association, which split up into two independent legal entities after the creation of the independent Slovak and Czech republics. While it marks its 20th anniversary in 2013, the history of the association’s activities goes back to 1919 when the Czechoslovak Gas and Water Association was launched. The SPNZ has 70 members that are either active in the gas chain, i.e. prospecting, extraction, transport, storage, distribution, trade as well as R&D, or in various supporting activities, as well as schools and other organisations.

Bagpipers' festival lured 120 contestants

THE INTERNATIONAL Gajdovačka (Bagpipe Party) festival lured over 120 bagpipers from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Poland, Scotland, Croatia and Italy. The festival, which took place in mid September, included bagpipe performances, numerous exhibitions and the 13th international competition of young bagpipers, O Zboroňovu Nôtu (For Zboroň’s Tone).

Čentéš case still in deadlock

THE CASE of Jozef Čentéš, whom the country’s president refused to appoint to the post of general prosecutor despite having been legally elected by parliament, will not be resolved anytime soon.The Constitutional Court (CC), which is supposed to decide over Čentéš’ complaint about the conduct of President Ivan Gašparovič, who let Čentéš wait 565 days before deciding not to appoint him, postponed its ruling for an unspecified period of time. The court’s senate assigned to the case was scheduled to rule on it on October 10.
