AN ASSOCIATION of judges called For an Open Judiciary (ZOJ) believes the changes currently being prepared for the judiciary will demotivate judges and will not increase their credibility or improve the efficiency of the courts, the TASR newswire reported.

THE INVESTIGATION into the infamous bulletin board tender has wrapped up. The investigator has prepared a proposal to begin prosecution, Police President Tibor Gašpar said on January 28. Prosecutors will now decide whether to bring the case to court.
Slovak athletes set for Sochi
PARADOXICALLY, a Russian-born biathlete is Slovakia’s biggest hope to bring home a medal from the Winter Olympic Games to take place in the Russian city of Sochi from February 7 to 23. Anastazia Kuzmina is among the 62 athletes representing the country, while estimated costs for sending the team to Sochi will reach €1.37 million.
Ball in the Opera opened season
BRATISLAVA’S traditional ball held in the Slovak National Theatre’s opera house opened the season of balls, masquerades and ballroom dancing. US musician Suzanne Vega was selected to open the 24th edition, which took place on January 11, for which she struck the ceremonial gong.
