Though the number of Slovak companies operating in Germany is still not as large as the number of German companies operating in Slovakia, there are a few successful examples. These are primarily companies that went abroad just after the 1989 Velvet Revolution when foreign markets opened up.
Cutting machines all over the world

One of the successful business stories belongs to MicroStep. The company from Bratislava supplies computer numerical control (CNC) machines for cutting materials by plasma, laser, oxy-acetylene welder, water beam and high-speed spindle to 55 countries worldwide.
In the beginning, production and exports of the machines came from the cooperation of MicroStep, a technology and management system supplier, IQM, a mechanics supplier from Zvolen (Banská Bystrica Region) and CDM, a sales and marketing firm for the German-speaking market of Brezová pod Bradlom (Trenčín Region). In 1998, the representatives of three companies established a joint German branch called MicroStep Europa GmbH.
