The Slovak company is one of the partners of the project Underground Sun Storage.
“The chance to cooperate on this project is the confirmation of our technology know-how,” CEO of Nafta, Martin Bartošovič, said at the official opening of this project at the beginning of October, as quoted by the SITA newswire. “It also reflects our effort to continuously bring innovations, not just for our products and services, but for the whole industry.”
If Underground Sun Storage is successful, it will be possible to store photovoltaic and wind energy in existing underground storage areas whose safety and reliability have already been proven. Nafta is collaborating on this project with the Austrian company RAG.
“The launch of a testing facility was made based on very promising lab tests in the initial phase of the project,” said CEO of RAG Markus Mittereger. “We cannot wait to get data and know-how stemming from the operation of this facility.”
