Fewer days off in 2004

SLOVAKS will have fewer days off in 2004 because many state holidays will be on weekends.

The Slovak daily SME wrote that, of the total 15 holidays that Slovakia celebrates as non-working days, only 10 will be on days of the working week.

Last year, 13 of the 15 holidays were during the regular workweek.

According to the central bank, more working days can contribute to increased economic activity. Analysts calculated that Slovakia loses about Sk1 billion (€24.35 million) on a holiday day.
