PSA Peugeot Citroen presented the latest model to be built at its plant in Trnava on September 25: the Citroen C3 Picasso. The volume of vehicles manufactured by PSA Peugeot Citroen in Slovakia will remain unchanged after full production of the new model begins. It will be produced alongside the current Peugeot 207 model, with total production remaining at around the current level of 854 vehicles per day, the SITA newswire wrote.
The C3 Picasso will be produced exclusively at the PSA Peugeot Citroen plant in Trnava. It will go on sale in February next year; the carmaker expects to sell 110,000 units of the new model each year.
Company Director General Jean Mouro said, as the car was being presented on September 25, that the ratio of Citroen C3 Picasso and Peugeot 207 models built at the plant will be approximately one to one, though production of the C3 will be gradually increased at the expense of the Peugeot 207.
PSA Peugeot Citroen Slovakia is investing around €100 million in production of the new model. It has attracted 70 new suppliers, with as many 80 percent of its parts due to come from Central Europe region.
The company says the ongoing international financial crisis will not affect the number of people employed at the Trnava plant.
