THE FORMER governor of the central bank, Marián Jusko, was elected new head of the Board of Directors at oil refinery Slovnaft.
Slovnaft has recently started to appoint former senior government appointees to its ranks. It is owned by the Hungarian MOL group and has recently come into conflict with the Finance Ministry over fuel prices, the daily SME daily reported.
Apart from Jusko, the former chief of the antitrust authority (PMÚ), Jaroslav Košťálik, has been appointed the company's director of corporate affairs.
In 1998 it was the PMÚ which fined Slovnaft Sk100 million (€2.5 million), while last year the Finance Ministry slapped a massive Sk2.6 billion (€65 million) fine on the refinery for overcharging.
Slovnaft's spokeswoman Kristína Félová told the daily SME that the refinery chose Jusko, whose term in the central bank ended at the start of 2005, because "the company is interested in the best experts from all spheres".
According to Slovnaft, Jusko has demonstrated excellent strategic and analytical thinking throughout his career.
