Slovenské Elektrárne (Slovak Power Plants), Inc., plans to invest 1.5 billion Sk ($43 m) this year into security measures at the Jaslovské Bohunice nuclear power plant, which is more than total amount of investment in 1994-1996 (1.374 billion Sk).
The gradual reconstruction, which will allow the plant to function until 2005 - 2007, will require 5.5 billion Sk. In 1999, the nuclear plant is planned to meet Western safety levels.
