Recreational vouchers will not be for all. Parliament failed to approve the change

Small entrepreneurs with less than 50 employees will not be required to contribute to their staff’s holiday in Slovakia.

The parliament failed to approve the amendment to the Labour Code drafted by the junior coalition Slovak National Party (SNS), which wanted all employers to provide their employees with recreational vouchers. It was supported by only 70 MPs of the 144 deputies present, the SITA newswire reported.

The proposal did not win the support of another coalition party, Most-Híd. Only two of its MPs voted for the amendment.

Discriminatory approach questioned

The recreational vouchers came into force at the beginning of 2019, introducing a duty for all employers with more than 49 staffers to contribute a certain amount to their employees’ holiday in Slovakia.
