Ministry lists 22 steps to prevent energy price hikes

SLOVAKIA’s Economy Ministry has prepared a list of 22 measures that should prevent further increases in energy prices, as well as targets for the energy prices it wants to achieve on the market.

According to the ministry’s calculations, electricity prices ought to drop by 5.4 percent as of January next year, while water and sewerage should go down by 5 percent and natural gas should be 1.8 percent cheaper.

According to the Hospodárske noviny daily, it is unclear how the ministry came up with these numbers.

Nor does the proposal address the prices of heating and fuel.

The ministry plans to submit the material to the government within the next few weeks.
