Appliance producer heads to Michalovce

AN UNNAMED German producer of household appliances is expected to build a medium-sized plant employing about 400 people in Michalovce, eastern Slovakia, said Slovak Finance Minister Ivan Mikloš.

According to SITA, Mikloš recently received the information about the plans during his visit to Munich. Mikloš would not reveal any further details.

Eastern Slovakia traditionally has one of the highest jobless rates in Slovakia. In May, Slovakia reported an unemployment rate of 14.47 percent. During the same period in eastern Slovakia, the Prešov and Košice regions posted unemployment rates of 18.93 percent and 21.15 percent, respectively.
