In order to increase the number of e-cars on Slovak roads, the state will again provide financial support to purchase these vehicles.
The Economy Ministry has published conditions and necessary information on the special Chcemeelektromobil.sk website (Slovak only). It will be possible to submit applications from December 17.
The ministry allocated altogether €5 million for this purpose, the TASR newswire reported.

Under the presented support scheme, those interested in buying a battery electric vehicle will be able to receive a subsidy of €8,000, while the purchase of plug-in hybrid electric vehicle will be supported with €5,000.
The call is open to natural persons, entrepreneurs and public administration. The maximum purchase price of a vehicle for which the subsidy will be provided should not exceed €50,000 including VAT.
The current support scheme follows the pilot project to support the purchase of e-cars, launched in late November 2016 in cooperation with the Slovak Automotive Industry Association, Economy Minister Peter Žiga (Smer) said.
“The annual increase in the sales of these vehicles rose steeply thanks to the support, and I believe that this project will be at least as successful as the previous one,” he added, as quoted by TASR.
He expects that as many as 1,000 new battery electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles will be added to the roads thanks to the support scheme.
More bureaucracy expected
The call will be open until the allocated sum is fully used up. Since the subsidy will be provided from the state budget, and not the Recycling Fund as in 2016, applicants should prepare for more bureaucracy.Related articleRead more
Although it will be possible to submit the applications only from December 17, the online registration system will be launched on December 11.
The applicants will have to fill in and submit the form at Chcemeelektromobil.sk in order to register. They will subsequently receive a unique code and book the respective subsidy. The call to submit an official application will be delivered only after December 17.
Due to security and technical reasons, it will be possible to register only during the weekdays between 12:00 and 20:00, TASR reported.
The list of successful applicants will be published online. Those receiving the subsidy will have 12 months to purchase the vehicle. They will be obliged not to sell the vehicle in the following two years and not purchase it via leasing.
Individuals and public administration bodies will be able to receive a subsidy for a single vehicle, while the limit for entrepreneurs will be the maximum amount of the subsidy from the state.
