BAŠTOVÁ Street is one of the streets in Bratislava that has partially preserved its medieval character to this day. It was built along the town's fortification wall, which affected the shape of the narrow street.
Jews lived on Baštová Street for centuries. However, in the days when the Ottomans posed a huge danger to Bratislava, the Jews left. The city council only permitted them to settle again in the inner part of the city after 1848.
The Jewish ritual bath (mikvah) and the legendary house of the executioner were also located on Baštová Street.
