CONCERT: SLOVAK jazz-funk band Finally (Eugen Botoš, Róbert Vizváry, Martin Koleda) will play with Sheldon Reynolds (formerly of Earth, Wind & Fire) on October 7 at 20:30 in the Nu Spirit Club in Šafárikovo Square 7 in Bratislava. BIRD-WATCHING: Opening of a bird-watching site, Birds of City Parks – Two events in one weekend will open the still little explored activity of bird watching to Bratislava inhabitants and visitors, offering a permanent observation site at Partizánska Lúka and a tour on Sunday starting under the SNP (former New) bridge – the UFO restaurant.

EXHIBITION: Ave Mária; Mariánska; ikonografia v zbierkach, GMB – Ave Maria; The Marian Iconography in the GMB Collections – This project, presenting works depicting the mother of Jesus from the Bratislava City Gallery has two parts: in the first part, visitors learn about stories from the life of the Virgin Mary, and in the second, about their various visual forms and perceptions.

EXIBITION: THE EXHIBITION of costume and stage designer Eva Farkašová runs parallel to the Divadelná Nitra theatre festival in the Nitrianska Galéria in Župné Square 3 in Nitra. Until October 13, visitors can get to see her work for not just Slovak, but also Polish and Czech theatres, including models of some stages used in plays and a film documenting her work. CLASSICAL MUSIC: Slovak Sinfonietta and Jenaer Philharmonie – The Žilina-based chamber orchestra will play Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem with the ensemble from the German city of Jena and the choir of the Salesian Philharmonic of Katowice, celebrating the composer’s 200th birth anniversary. The conductor is Marc Tardue.

THEATRE: Monologhi del Caxxo – The Italian Babybang theatre made a performance focused on the phenomenon of the penis, and director Lucia Vasini asked several women to express their feelings, stances and experiences. The performance is interactive, with music by Marcello Gori and played by Carolina De La Calle Casanova, Valentina Scuderi.

EXHIBITION: Otvorený Depozitár – F.X. Messerschmidt: Charakterové Hlavy / Open Depository - F.X. Messerschmidt: Character Heads – The unique set of torsos by Franz Xaver Messerschmidt, called Character Heads, are so expressive that they defy comparison with anything else at the time they were made, in the 18th century. Their castings are exhibited in the Slovak National Gallery in Zvolen.

BALLET: Tchaikovsky –Sleeping Beauty – The ballet of the State Theatre adapted the classical ballet of composer P.I. Tchaikovsky and choreographer Marius Petipa to modern times, lasting for two acts. Adapted by choreographer Mykhail Novikov, it is directed by Ondrej Šoth.
