BRATISLAVA
THE FOUNDERS of the inaugural Camera Slovakia festival hope the event will become the largest travellers' festival in Slovakia. It will run at Incheba, a large exhibition hall, from January 16 to 18 during the 6th annual International Travel Fair festival. The programme on Friday, January 16, will be entitled Australia, Oceania, and Indonesia and will feature films about these countries, starting at 14:00. The festival's official opening starts at 15:50 with a speech by the Indonesian ambassador and a dance show by Indonesian dancers, followed by a slide show presented by different participants in the event. The next day will be dominated by multimedia presentations about the Americas and Africa, starting at 11:00. Sunday will end the festival with presentations about Europe and Asia, again starting at 11:00. Incheba sits on Viedenská cesta 7. CENTRAL SLOVAKIA
BUDATÍNSKY Castle, situated on the outskirts of Žilina, is known for housing the world's largest exposition of tinkery - works created using wire technique. Run by the Považské Museum, it displays traditional tinkery products from the end of the 18th century up through today, when the technique is used more in a decorative, artistic way. The collection consists of over 4,000 pieces collected by Slovak tinkers who have lived in Slovakia and abroad since 1940. In addition to this permanent exhibition, the castle also holds temporary exhibits. The Contemporary Interior exhibition, which features artifacts of the former owners of the castle, is currently on display.
