THE WORKS of the winners of art competitions that took place in the Czech and Slovak Republics last year are on display at the Bratislava City Gallery (GMB) at Pálffy Palace. The winner of the Slovak Oskár Čepan Award 2003 competition is Mário Chromý. His video-art projection, which captures the Slovak outlaw Juraj Jánošík, can be seen in the basement of the Pálffy Palace. The winner of the Czech Jindřich Chalupecký Award 2003 competition is Michal Pěchouček. His photos, exhibited on the third floor, show his interpretations of situations from ordinary life. The Oskár Čepan Award originated on the initiative of Wendy W. Luers, the founder and director of the American Foundation for a Civil Society, as a parallel to the Jindřich Chalupecký Award. The awards are given to artists under 35. Pálffy Palace is located at Panská 19 and the exhibition is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 11:00 to 18:00 until February 29.
