BRATISLAVA recalls its Roman history on September 8 with the Roman Games, which will celebrate the re-opening of the restored Roman Gerulata military camp in Rusovce. The programme portrays Romans not as warriors and gladiators, as it did last year, but as educated people, orators, philosophers, and artists. The Roman Games start at 10:00 and peak with a two-hour night show at 18:00. The programme includes entertainment and information on what life was like in Roman times. THE INTERNATIONAL Cinematik Film Festival in Pieštany returns on September 4 with more than 50 films and 29 documentaries meant to improve young film viewers' "film literacy". Its main competition section, Meeting Point Europe, features a collection of the best European films from 2006-2007, including Andrea Arnold's Red Road; Stephen Frears's The Queen; Michel Gondry's The Science of Sleep; and Jiří Menzel's Obsluhoval Jsem Anglického Krále (I Served the King of England). Concerts by Martin Bies and the Flamenco Clan, Diego, Puding pani Elvisovej, and Tiny Tits Teens are also part of the festival. A festival pass costs Sk180 in advance and Sk200 at the door.
