BRATISLAVA'S Astorka theatre hosted the 12th European Spanish-language theatre festival from April 17 to 22, the second time the festival took place in Slovakia.
In the evenings, 16 groups of students from bilingual high schools in the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Russia, Bulgaria, Romania, Spain and Slovakia performed plays written by Spanish authors. When not at the theatre the students explored Bratislava's historical centre, visited the Danubiana museum in Čunovo and the Slovak National Museum. They also made trips to Devín castle and the nearby Austrian capital, Vienna.
The students roomed with local families, who looked after them for the whole week of their Slovak stay. The language of communication was Spanish. In 2006, the international theatre festival will move to Spain.
